The Landscape
When first arriving in Lucerne I was absolutely blown away by the landscape and views in Switzerland. It was nothing like what I’m used to seeing in New Jersey or any place in the United States. Even in London or Paris it was more city like and with not much open land. Lucerne was a city but surrounding the city was open land and mountains including the Swiss Alps. The Swiss Alps were covered in beautiful green grass and snow on the tips. The air was so crisp and fresh and made me want to stay there forever.
The buildings in Lucerne seem to be modern but also have a lot of history to them. They are treasures of medieval architecture with the way the buildings were designed. On the walls of houses and churches are beautiful frescos painted on them. There are many architectural highlights of the town including the futuristic Culture and Convention center known as the KKK. According to My Switzerland, “Tradition and modernity stands side-by-side with ease in Lucerne, as the town has also earned a reputation for itself with innovative design.” The Chapel bridge is one of the most famous wooden brides in the world. I loved the way it was built and how it gave such a rustic look to the town. The lights reflected over the water along with the tower being lit up with projected lights and images. Walking on that I could feel the history of the town and the impact this bridge had on the community.
